Big Little Guardian Mummies

Things mentioned:

  • Emma Stone deserves an acting award just for this skit

The Last Silence

Beauty and the Besson

In this episode, we find out who is the Ghost in the Shell, take a look into the chaotic life of Jackie, look at full-on space madness with Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and are pretty excited for a little indie movie called Beauty and the Beast. Also, this week we are joined by Glenn from Cinema Geekly who shares all his Beauty and the Beast knowledge and love!

Things mentioned:

  • Only Jaden Smith truly understands Doctor Strange

Strange Benedict Bashing

In this episode, we wish Office Christmas Party didn’t give us such high hijinks expectations, are ready for everyone’s favorite Hufflepuff to descend on New York in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, are READY for Diana to kick some ass and deflect some bullets in Wonder Woman, and are already crying from the splendor that is La La Land. Also SPOILERS for Doctor Strange.

  • Gillian’s love of Benedict Cumberbatch is documented in previous episodes. But, she does not take back her opinion on his accent work or the fact that he was miscast as Doctor Strange. Case and point, this sketch. He was probably going for a certain type of dialect but it keeps getting lost:

TRAILERS

Operator Boss Logan

In this episode we are troubled by Alec Baldwin as the voice of a suit-wearing Boss Baby, think Mae Whitman is going to make an interesting Operator, are excited to find a father in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and are sad to see the end of Logan.

Things mentioned:

  • OK, Gillian got a little confused in her excitement. There is no stand-alone Lando movie. YET. You know how Disney love to world build.
  • In case you are unfamiliar with Donald Glover, here are some wonderful moments from Community.

  • Colin Firth has been cast in Mary Poppins as president of the Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Seems like stellar casting but that means no chance someone will double as the president and kids will get to see this:

Movie trailers

Sea of Split

In this episode we fall in love with the animation in Moana, wonder what Nic Cage is up to next in Dog Eat Dog, watch James McAvoy have the time of his live(s) in Split, and wonder what’s going on in The Sea of Trees. We also bitch about Suicide Squad.

Comic-Con Trailers Are Here!

COMIC-CON TRAILERS! Honestly, we were not expecting this level of fantastic trailers. Justice League was a surprise and we did not realize how great Wonder Woman would look. Watch out Marvel. DC is finally getting their shit together.

Doctor Strange looking very Inception-y

Who’s excited to see Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and Captain Marvel in Skull Island? Not us.

Batman looks like he’s getting the gang together so he doesn’t have to fight. Take better care of yourself Bruce!

Gal Gadot is the hero we need right now. And Chris Pine is the perfect damsel in distress.

There is a lot of fun Comic-con videos coming out. Here are a few faves

Bill Hader should have been cast as young Han Solo

Game of Thrones bloopers. Benevolent is a hard word.

Eddie Redmayne is the perfect Hufflepuff

Stop fighting sharks

In this episode we find out how Quint survived that whole ordeal in USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, wonder why Blake Lively insists on fighting sharks in The Shallows, realized the best version of Justin Beiber is actually Andy Samberg in Popstar: Never Stop Stopping, and realize Michael Keaton is the most charismatically evil man in The Founder.

If you have a modicum of idealism and belief in innate goodness – you must stand beside Steve Rodgers. Should The Avengers be responsible for their actions? Absolutely. How hard would it have been to go back to Sokovia and do damage control? That whole situation probably would have remedied itself if these “heroes” had just apologized and helped rebuild the city. However, that does not mean they should be beholden to an international council that controls their actions. Even the best organizations can be infiltrated. Captain knows this better than anyone. So should Tony Stark. They both worked for Shield.
Also, we know Tony Stark. The man creates special rules for himself and those he loves when he sees fit. He may follow the Sokovian Accords — until it threatens his worldview or becomes inconvenient. While Captain’s reasons for not signing may be simplistic and naive at least he is sticking to his beliefs and he is extremely unlikely to change.

The Avengers should feel guilty for the destruction they have caused, however, let’s not pretend these are causalities of superheroes’ whims. Those citizens died during times of great threat. While it is not their fault they were near the front lines, their death is still a side effect of war. It’s unavoidable. We need to side with a man who has been to war, who realizes the costs, and won’t hide behind an international organization when it is time to man up.
