Witch hunter seaside riots

Hey there,

It’s August. The dumping ground for many films….and sometimes trailers. Seriously, there are some interesting ones out there this week. Here are some weird ones that you may have missed.

In this episode we see a Lifetime movie with two big stars in By The Sea, don’t even begin to wonder what the plot is about in The Last Witch Hunter, try to keep track of Nicholas Cage’s accents in The Runner and watch a disaster movie master take on Stonewall.

Things mentioned:

Indie mumblings

We’re taking a break from action movies this week. We’ve labeled these movie trailers as part of the “mubmlecore” genre but really, they’re just movies that focus on (hopefully) good dialogue rather than 8 minute explosion sequences. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

In this episode we slack off with Jason Schwartzman in 7 Chinese Brothers, praise sex-toy stealing Judy Greer in Addicted to Fresno, discover some serious funny while Digging for Fire and find our new favorite rom-com couple in Slow Learners. Oh and we do a very special review at the end. We had to.

Spotlight on the finest comic con

Hello there,

First off, big thanks to Tampa Bay Comic Con for letting us host a panel on podcasting (for free)! Those who attended were insightful, funny and some had similar views on Adam Sandler movies. Very cool.

In this episode we hope that John Kransinski can explain the intricacies of Middle East politics in 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, struggle with the accents (not really the story) presented in The Finest Hours, get into some investigative journalism in Spotlight and are uplifted when remember the triumph of the Chilean miners in The 33.

Things mentioned in this episode:

  • In this week’s “actors we can’t remember the name of” the man who plays Gale in Breaking Bad and who is in the upcoming Benghazi movie is David Costabile
  • Follow our new Instagram. We took lots of great pics from Tampa Bay Comic Con.
  • The Copiapo mining accident was from August 5, to October 13. 69 days.
  • Will 13 Hours be the thing that ends Hillary Clinton’s run? Probably not. It’s still just a Michael Bay movie.
  • Ok so The Finest Hours takes place at Chatham, Massachusetts. Gillian apologies for making fun of everyone’s accent.
