Strange Benedict Bashing

In this episode, we wish Office Christmas Party didn’t give us such high hijinks expectations, are ready for everyone’s favorite Hufflepuff to descend on New York in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, are READY for Diana to kick some ass and deflect some bullets in Wonder Woman, and are already crying from the splendor that is La La Land. Also SPOILERS for Doctor Strange.

  • Gillian’s love of Benedict Cumberbatch is documented in previous episodes. But, she does not take back her opinion on his accent work or the fact that he was miscast as Doctor Strange. Case and point, this sketch. He was probably going for a certain type of dialect but it keeps getting lost:

TRAILERS

Comic-Con Trailers Are Here!

COMIC-CON TRAILERS! Honestly, we were not expecting this level of fantastic trailers. Justice League was a surprise and we did not realize how great Wonder Woman would look. Watch out Marvel. DC is finally getting their shit together.

Doctor Strange looking very Inception-y

Who’s excited to see Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and Captain Marvel in Skull Island? Not us.

Batman looks like he’s getting the gang together so he doesn’t have to fight. Take better care of yourself Bruce!

Gal Gadot is the hero we need right now. And Chris Pine is the perfect damsel in distress.

There is a lot of fun Comic-con videos coming out. Here are a few faves

Bill Hader should have been cast as young Han Solo

Game of Thrones bloopers. Benevolent is a hard word.

Eddie Redmayne is the perfect Hufflepuff

Joyful Oscar hopefuls

At least, that’s what we think these movies are. Three in particular.

These are the movies with the stellar casts, dramatic story lines and strategic release dates that make them contenders for the Academy Awards. Some are just blatantly gunning for it.

So, in this episode we watch some heavy breathing and intense acting in The Revenant, get excited about mops(?) in Joy, are sad while watching Freeheld and watch Christoph Waltz come full circle as the role he was born to play – a Bond Villain – in Spectre.

Things mentioned in this episode:

  • This some of the drama in filming The Revenant. Hey, maybe it will be worth crew members getting fired and naked people challenges.
  • Here is the story behind the movie Joy. Is this Oscar worthy? Is this even movie worthy?  Also forget mops, let’s be thankful that Joy Mangano invented HUGGABLE HANGERS!
  • And here’s the story of Laurel Anne Hester, a main character in Freeheld. Obvs SPOILERS. Kinda wish I had not read it.
  • Here is the full cast for Spectre. Gillian’s apologies for not remembering the names of Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux and Ben Whishaw.

A Little Black Mass Tomorrow(Land)

MeandEarlandtheDyingGirl_article_story_large

In this episode we look towards the awesome and exciting future in Tomorrowland, we watch a better tween cancer story in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, debate over the merits of “kid doing magic” in Little Boy and fret over Johnny Depp’s ability to not screw up Black Mass.

Things mentioned in this episode:

  • Me and Earl and The Dying Girl actually set a Sundance record, reaching a deal for $12 million
  • The review from Rotten Tomatoes for Little Boy is basically “Well-meaning but manipulative on a horrifically misguided scale.” And now Gillian wants to see it so she can understand how it got that review.
  • This is Benedict Cumberbatch in a scene from Black Mass. At least he looks happy

Still Our Favorite Things?!

tumblr_mcevnkadkz1rix8iwo1_500

Hello all,

Sorry but there will be no new episode this week. Gillian and Jaclyn live in the magical land of Tampa where once a year people act/dress like pirates and all Hell breaks loose. Needless to say schedules were messed up and much pirate drinks were consumed so here we are.

But GOOD NEWS. We have re-released an episode from last year. It’s Our Favorite Things episode where we go over our favorite movies, actors, worst movies, favorites directors, etc. Gillian has listened to it…..and is kinda embarrassed. It’s amazing how much your taste and beliefs in movies can change in less than a year. However, she still defends Adam Sandler. She’s unsure why, but she totally does.

We’ll be back next week!

Resolutions

Hello,

Obviously our main goal this year is to be less Daniel Boringcliff and more Daniel Radcliffe. Pretty simple.

But we also made some movie resolutions this year and we want to share them with you. These are the movies we are most excited for, ambivalent about or just pain dreading to see. We went off this list that has a comprehensive look at what movies are coming out in 2015.

Things discussed in this episode:

Pretty pictures/serious content episode

Hello there,

We have a split episode — half animated fun, half intense drama.

Don’t worry. It all makes sense.

In this episode we save the world (?) with the Penguins of Madagascar, are confused by the pretty people in White Bird in a Blizzard, dazzled by the Day of the Dead in The Book of Life, and wonder if Shia LaBeouf is actually in Fury.

Also, since it’s t.v. premier season, we are reviewing t.v. trailers in our next episode. Get ready.

Hello all,

Lots of great movie trailers are coming out recently thanks to Comic Con and the very beginning of Oscar season movies. So we picked some great movies to review, as well as movies that just exist.

In this episode we find out it’s cool to date you friend’s dad as long as he’s Sam Rockwell in Laggies, find out what Pierce Brosnan’s favorite month is in The November Man, learn about the best super hero movie that never was in The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened? and watch the internet’s boyfriend help win WWII in The Imitation Game.
